local structure ( scanning tunneling microscopy, STM) and the chemical Polarization dependent AFM-IR for analysis of the Zakopane, Polen, Januar 2019.
The STM was the first instrument to generate real-space images of surfaces with so-called "atomic resolution." This would later be known as atomic lattice resolution. The operation of STM and Conductive AFM is identical except that one uses a sharpened and conducting wire/tip in STM instead of a conductive AFM cantilever.

W trakcie seminarium firma Labsoft wraz z naszym partnerem, firmą Bruker organizowała warsztaty mikroskopii sił atomowych w zastosowaniach biologicznych. This third generation of the LT STM enables our customers to carry out the most advanced low temperature STM, spectroscopy and QPlus® AFM experiments. And like its previous iterations, the ease-of-use, stability and proven reliability in the LT STM ensure a high productivity, workhorse microscope.
STM for Molecular Resolution Imaging. You might have seen my previous note about low-current STM imaging of self-assembled 2D lattices of cobalt and nickel octaethylporphyrin (CoOEP and NiOEP, respectively) on HOPG. This third generation of the LT STM enables our customers to carry out the most advanced low temperature STM, spectroscopy and QPlus® AFM experiments. And like its previous iterations, the ease-of-use, stability and proven reliability in the LT STM ensure a high productivity, workhorse microscope.

The AFM was invented by IBM scientists in 1985. The precursor to the AFM, the scanning tunneling microscope (STM), was developed by Gerd Binnig and Heinrich Rohrer in the early 1980s at IBM Research - Zurich, a development that earned them the 1986 Nobel Prize for Physics. A scanning tunneling microscope (STM) is a type of microscope used for imaging surfaces at the atomic level. Its development in 1981 earned its inventors, Gerd Binnig and Heinrich Rohrer, then at IBM Zürich, the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1986. While STM can only be used to image conductive samples, AFM does not require a current flow between the tip and the sample and can map a surface regardless of its conductivity. AFM has become a standard laboratory tool that is widely used to image not only inorganic materials but also biological samples such as individual proteins and DNA. High-resolution atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) imaging with functionalized tips is well established, but a detailed understanding of the imaging mechanism is still missing.
STM tip holder fits directly onto Dimension/BioScope SPM heads to enable Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) operation. When performing STM imaging, the sample is biased (software controllable) and the tip measures current. Conductive STM tips are included.

Both AFM & STM are surface microscopy techniques that can determine the topology of a surface & both widely used across chemical & nanoscience fields.
AFM, STM, SNOM are relatively fast imaging methods allowing sub-µ resolution, in contrast with conventional optics allowing for fast and noncontact imaging, but suffering from lack of resolution according to Rayleigh criterion. STM - is the tunnelling current between a metallic tip and a conducting substrate which are in very close proximity but not actually in physical contact. AFM - is the van der Waals force between the tip and the surface; this may be either the short range repulsive force (in contact-mode) or the longer range attractive force (in non-contact mode).
